poweroff
poweroff: turn the computer off.
Synopsis
poweroff
Description
poweroff ends every process, closing their files (so what they wrote reaches the disks), and turns the computer off, as its power button does. It takes no arguments.
Exit status
It does not return when it works. If the kernel refuses, the reason is printed and the status is 1.
Notes
What a process had buffered in its own standard I/O and not yet written is lost, as on Linux; programs should close their files first.
